Why Are You Troubled?

If it was possible, the devil will keep us permanently sad and depressed. He would want us to count our sorrows rather than remember the blessings of the Lord in our lives. A woman who has three girls’ laments that she wishes God gave her a boy. She forget that there are girls who are praying for husbands and others who weep daily asking God to give them a child, be it a girl or a boy.

King David knew better. When he encountered many difficult situations, the spirit of heaviness tried to steal his destiny. He got depressed and discouraged.  But he started talking to himself. ‘Why are thou cast down, oh my soul? Put your hope in the Lord.’ He was saying, ‘David pull yourself together. Why are you discouraged? Why have you lost your joy? God is still God and sits on the throne. His thoughts about you are still thoughts of good’.

When that heaviness tries to overcome you, do what David did, count your blessings and put back your trust in the Lord and praise Him. Without doubt, He will give you His strength and empower you to overcome every obstacle you may be facing. Problem will surely come, negative thoughts will invade your privacy but remember the choice is yours- to believe the lies of the enemy or accept and believe the promises of God.
