He Restores The Broken

The story of Job and Ruth reassures us that we do not serve God in vain. When disaster ravaged and destroyed the family of Job, the ignorant and even the stout hearted must have questioned the goodness of God. Job’s friends doubted his honesty and dedication because of what befall him. God, they reasoned, would not do such a disaster to ravage His beloved. Was Job really God’s servant and friend?

There must have been some hidden sins in the life of this friend who professed to love God. However at the end of the story, we discover that God is truly good and that His mercy endureth forever. He upheld Job to survive the attack of satan. Job came out with his faith intact. Despite his sufferings he boldly declared, “Though He slays me, yet will I trust in Him, but I will maintain mine own ways before him. (Job 13:15).

It is comforting and encouraging to note that God did not desert Job. He does not abandon His wounded; neither does He allow Satan to have the last laugh. In Job 42:12-13 we read, “So the Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning, for he had fourteen thousand sheep and six thousand camels and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand Asses. He had also seven sons and three daughters.’ That is same wealth! We need not ask who laughed last. So will God restore all you have lost, this year.
